Osteopathy
A team of healthcare professionals.
A gentle and effective hands-on approach to healthcare, based on the principle that the way your body moves influences how it functions.
Osteopaths are highly competent healthcare professionals, recognised by the NHS as fully qualified to diagnose and treat independently.
As you don’t need a referral from your doctor to see an osteopath, you will typically be able to see an osteopath quickly, without the long waiting times that often occur with other treatment options.
Osteopaths assess the structure and function of the body and the fluid movement within the body, they treat with the understanding that the body has the ability to heal and regulate itself. Osteopaths use these principles to provide treatment tailored to the individual. They try to understand each individuals health concerns in relation to their job, home life etc. It is a common misconception that osteopaths only treat back pain. However, they are very good at it and treat back pain caused by all sorts of things e.g. disc injuries, trapped nerves, muscle spasms and whiplash etc. More information about osteopathy can be found on the GOSC website.
Help with TMJ Problems
If you are experiencing TMJ issues then our Osteopath would be very happy to review for you.
On your
first visit
On your first visit the osteopath will take a detailed case history and assess the extent and severity of the complaint, using this and their knowledge of anatomy and physiology they will put together a treatment plan tailored to you.
Will i have to
take my clothes off?
It is possible that on your first visit you will be asked to remove some clothing so they can see the full extent of the complaint. However, if this is a problem it can be avoided by wearing shorts/tracksuit bottoms and a vest top.
